Schools out for this year, Record temperatures and another successful stampede breakfast. Special thanks to Mike Isakeit for once again spearheading this event, Etienne Bley for keeping the games for the kids flowing and the many volunteers who helped out. Was nice to see Peter Demong and Richard Gotfried out to help us celebrate our 35 th Anniversary. Peter even dressed up with goggles and a smock allowing folks to throw pies at him to help raise funds for charity. I unfortunately had to work, so after helping set up had to leave, appreciate
Sue Read for stepping up to MC the event. You’re the best Girl!
Will be an interesting month and half as our gym floors are set to be replaced mid July to Mid Aug. Thank you to DROOS for adapting to our smaller space during this time. Hope for more nice weather so we can utilize the outdoors for the kids programs. Good to also see the progress on our roads, will be nice when that is complete.
Also last year we had street cleaning and about 1 week after our trees dumped their buds littering our streets again, we requested the cleaning to be pushed back and looks like it worked this year. Thanks to Peter for pushing to get these done for us. Aug 14, 15 we see our annual ball tournament. Than you Paul Vansickle for once again organizing the tournament.
From what Paul is telling me we are havingto expand the tournament from 8 teams to at least 12
teams this year. We usually have a waiting list of teams to get in, so this could climb to as high as 16 teams this year. Shows the growing success of the event. Sept 12 is our annual community clean up. We are accepting Car Batteries, Metal, Electronics, the City will have organic and garbage trucks on site and we are taking propane tanks but will have to charge a minimal fee that the recycler charges us. We also set up an area for reusable items that folks can drop off, but also if there is something you can use, please take. End of the day, reusable items are donated. PLEASE NOTE: NO chemicals are to be brought and mattresses now need to be bagged. I have been asked for anyone that got garage sale signs from center to return them to ensure we have enough for next year.
