Sikome Aquatic Facility - Know before You Go

Our local swim spot, Sikome Lake in Fish Creek Provincial Park, will be opening for the summer on Friday, June 24, 2022. Sikome is classified as a “man-made beach”. Three fresh water wells supply the water; no water is taken from the Bow River. There is a water treatment plant on site.

The lake is very shallow near the main entrance and is great for young children to play in. However, water does not have to be deep to present a drowning hazard so always keep young children within arms reach. Parts of the lake reach over 2 meters deep (near the centre).

The beach is large and sandy, if a little coarse. Bring your sand toys and beach blankets.
