The DRCA newsletter wants your poetry

The newsletter wants to incorporate community members photography and poetry and showcase the talent in our community. You can submit your poem by providing your name (and age if you are a kid) to newsletter@deerruncalgary.com so our poetry editor Neshali Weera can publish can publish it in our monthly poetry section. Poetry specific to the neighbourhood and the seasons are encouraged! If possible we would love a picture to accompany it too!

 “We are Connected” Art Project

Community members were invited to decorate and display a wooden plaque celebrating how we are connected, in our home community of Deer Run. All residents of Deer Run were invited to participate. House-shaped wooden plaques were available for pick-up from the Deer Run Community Centre and distributed through the neighbourhood. Residents were encouraged to paint and/or decorate their plaque then hang up the art on the wire fence along 146 AVE SE, just east of the Deer Run Community Centre. The fence installation will be displayed for up three years, depending on how the art weathers.

The art deadline was July 12, 2020 for entry into the People’s Choice Contest.

Everyone is encouraged to hang up their art even if they missed the contest. You may make more than once artwork. The art will stay up a few years and be seen by many people.
