DRCA Hair-Raiser 2022
Be part of the fun and sponsor our community projects. Turn Kim, David and Etienne’s troublesome hair into stubble!
We are cutting hair to raise funds for two DRCA projects:
A new Deer Run Sign at 146th Ave and Bow Bottom Trail, and
Upgrading the outdoor ice rinks by the community centre.
You decide how much to donate and where to allocate the funds. Donate today!

Kim Semeniuk: The President
It Doesn’t Look Better in a Cowboy Hat
“My wife and I have been keeping a low profile during COVID. I haven’t gotten my hair cut since we started wearing masks in March 2020”. Fast forward to today. It’s time to get a trim.
Etienne Bley: Director Way & Means
Wild at Heart is Good Enough
His wife offered money to cut it IMMEDIATELY (it could get cut again at the Stampede Breakfast). He declined and is waiting for a better offer from the community. We won’t disappoint him!
David Brooke: Vice-President
His Beard was White as Snow
It’s not winter anymore David! Help us change his image from “Ho Ho Ho” into “Yahoo” in time for summer!
We’re Down to the Stubble
Round Up at the Stampede Breakfast
The gentlemen did the deed and had all their hair cut off on behalf of the Deer Run community! It started with Kim losing his lank COVID locks. Etienne was up next taking his beard off which was quickly followed by the rest of his hair in a bidding war. Finally Jamie was up who volunteered spur of the moment and stood in for David, who couldn’t be with us for the event. It was fun to watch it go down in the Community Centre gym and be cheered on by the folks from the Square Dancing club.
Roping in David from Afar
I’m now working in the airborne geophysical survey business, looking for new mine sites. On April 27, I started off driving by our old house in Conception Bay South (CBS), NL, then spent time in Swift Current, SK, Come by Chance, NL and Buchans, NL, an old mining town in western Newfoundland. It was cool exploring the old mine sites from the early 1900’s. I’ve also been in Timmins, ON and Houston, BC. Next I’ll be heading to Finland for 2 weeks. It’s been an adventure but I’m glad I could still support our community back home.
